Hello everyone. Thanks to all invovled in creating this amazing project. xbmc was the reason i bought an xbox and everything about it is perfect except for this one small thing.
i have searched the forums both here other places but haven't found a conclusive answer as of yet.
is there any option that i have missed that allows all video files to be played in the sequence that they're on the disc. for instance i have many kids shows for my little girl in avi format (stacking doeasn't work as they're all random shows) burnt onto dvd but as it stands i have to select and play the next file after each finishes which isn't a major problem when watching movies ect but most of my little girls shows are between 3 and 10 minutes long and it seems im always at the control pressing buttons. i know i can create playlists but i have a lot of dvds and dont wish to create playlist for each.
i also have a standalone divx player in my bedroom and in that i can put in a dvd with avis on it and it will play them one after the other in alpabetical order. this is what i need my box to do.
thanks for taking the time to read this everyone and thanks to everyone whos made xbmc what it is today!!!!sorry i didn't realise about the title button bringing up the context menu. i just tested it by using the play disc option in the context menu and it still stops after each video file. thanks for all your help everyone but it looks like i'm gonna have to splash out on a new standalone divx player. shame though as i love the fact you can stream media on the boxplay disc will accomplish it (that is the context menu item). play on remote won't work.when you asked, you couldn't. however now,
- 15-07-2006 changed: play on the remote now plays the dvd if the dvd bookmark is selected in the media windows.sorry mate what was that last bit. you lost meif that is the case, it's a bug. i will look into it when i can be arsed to dig up a dvd.
it should obviously enqueue the whole disc, just as 'play' on a folder works.Sorry guys now Im confused. Are you saying that highlighting the dvd drive in MyVideos and pressing play on the remote will not play the disc (by design)? I can do it with a DVD Movie disc and I assumed it would be the same for a disc containing a number of files. Wouldnt this be the desired way for it to work?
Or am I missing something really obvious?
snappzthanks mate will that be in the next build then. thats amazing. i wasn't even expecting to have anyone reply yet let alone fixing the bug this forum is quality. if i can ever do anything to help you just let me know.yeah i know about the playlists but i'm always changing dvds and i really want the files to just play one after the other for each disc i put in as i never noticed how much i relied on it with my divx player. I just thought i had maybe missed an option somewhere as all other players(i don't mean for the xbox i just mean in general) do this automatically. if there really is no other fix for this other than using playlists i may just buy a new standalone divx player as my missus is blind and its not easy for her to watch anything on my xbox cos of it stopping after each file and she cant set up playlists cos she can't see but on my divx player she can just put a dvd with avis in it and it auto plays the first file as the xbox does but when that finishes my divx player plays the next file where as the xbox just stops so my missis has to try and select the next file. which is a lot harder than you expect if you cant see.yeah i noticed in a thread earlier to try highlighting the dvd drive and press play on the remote but that didn't work. i havent tried with the context menu on the controller but that wouldn't work well for me as i dont like having leads showing or being accessable to my little girl for safety reasons. would it be possible to re map a button on the remote to access that menu. thanks for all your replys anyway. how can one simple thing be such a downfall of such an amazing tool.
do you think this could be fixed in a new version of xbmc or is it one of these things thats just not possible.add to / fixed in cvs.Add your files to a playlist.
"Title" on remote
"White" on controller.
Then you can show/edit/save /delete your playlist.
HTH, uwerbfore you go through all that hassle i'll install the newest build on to my box. ive put the newest one on my brothers and it was doing the same but that was before i posted here so i haven't tried using the play disc option with the newest one. i'll check it out and post here whether or not it was successful. thanks againit now plays all files on discs if you use the 'play disc' in context menu.
i add the feature / fixed the problem.thanks again spiff. you don't know how much easier you've made my lifewhy would you need a controller to open the context menu??
just use title on the remote.
and yes. xbmc.playdvd iircMyVideos -> Highlight the dvd drive -> White button -> Play
or with remote just hit play when highlighting the drivesnappz, are you sure you can do that? that was originally restricted from working on a toplevel share.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
