  • Travel dates available for February 28th.

  • 8575 miles for that much $? is that really MR worthy?

example: just did ATL-ORD-HNL-ORD-ATL for 228 a/i on UA

  • For a few hours, one could book AA DEN-HNL for under $300 all in through the end of schedule. I booked peak November dates and will buy a $100 RT fare ORD-DEN when that goes on sale. Not a MR for me (too high of a CPM) but a vacation to a place I want to go for ~$400 all in with a chance of bumps. IF one watches FT carefully, Hawaii comes around for less than this from time to time. Last year I flew UA for $237 all in; the year before I flew UA for $132 all in from ATL. I just got back today from a DL HNL vacation I booked for $320 all in from ORD.

Dang, those are some fantastic fares! Maybe you could post them here next time you find them!

  • I found $476.90 March 3-5.

  • All in for $522 from Austin... Depart 2/26 and return 2/28. Total of 5 segments...

    AUS-DFW-HNL (outbound)
    HNL-LAX-DFW-AUS (inbound)

For a total of 8575 miles. I would do it, but I already blew my mileage run money for the quarter on the big SEA fare sale a couple of weeks ago.

  • Thanks OP for a great vacation fare! :)

This is however a poor MR fare if you are willing to put in the time (and prefer to spend $200 instead of $500 for the same miles). The fare also requires a 3 day minimum stay, killing the deal for anyone looking for cheap miles/EQM/points rather than a good priced Hawaii vacation.

For those wanting to vacation to Hawaii from Chicago on AA, here is more information about this fare:

    AA QEX0QNR (needs Q inventory) $457 base
Min stay: 3 days Max: 60 days
    Valid through: 05/22/08

For those wishing to add mileage to their vacation: ORD-DFW-PDX-LAX/SFO-HNL is allowed on the fare (you need Q inventory on all segments for it to price!). Return HNL-LAX/SFO-PDX-DFW-ORD for 11614 base miles for $20 more airport taxes or fly non-stop for 8487 miles. The connections may not be worth it; depends how you value your time and the EQM.

    ------------------------------------------

For those wanting to vacation to Hawaii on other airlines from Chicago, the same fare exists on:
    UA TOE3NR1 457.40
    US THMA0ST 457.40
    TZ NLN28 457.40
    DL TX03M3 457.40
    NW KE3ONR 457.40

All of these are valid for travel until 05/22/08.

Of these, US and TZ do not have a minimum stay requirement, making an expensive MR possible (still very expensive if you care about getting miles for cheap).

BTW - there was a HNL fare war a few days ago. FT thread. I agree. I am doing MEM-STL-DEN-SAN-HNL-ORD-STL-MCO-ATL-MEM coming up next week and spent $260 AI.
