Can you drink water during Yom Kippur?

My jewish friend is dieing of thirst. She needs to know. She's reform.

If she actually is dying of thirst, that's a different story. There are exceptions for medical rules, and if her life or health is in jeopardy, then she can drink.

I don't think you're supposed to drink water. Sadly, I didn't know this before Yom Kippur, and have drank water even though I didn't eat since last sundown. It's my first fast though, and I also ended up going to class and I haven't attended as many services, so I'm going to observe as much as I can through the years. In the past I didn't even acknowledge it, so every step counts I guess.

Tell her to stick it out if she can, clean slate coming up soon!

no way! you cannot eat or drink! your suppose to fast from evening of kippur through the end of kippur which is the next day! and tell your friend she was suppose to fast starting age 12 (girls)
13 (boys) this is a really important fast!

well, to keep the fast then yes she can't drink water.

wait it out and just swallow a lot to use your own saliva to keep your throat moist.

No water!
You can do it, just think of the reward when it's done!
This is my first fast, It's going good for me.
And just keep swallowing, it actually helps a lot! Mostly to releive dryness in the throat.

Not sure but the no drinking I think that may apply to things like wine and other alcohol but at least a little water is permited.

I thought you were allowed to wear shoes as long as they aren't leather. That's what my grandmother told me, and she's orthodox. Unlike me. xD

And you're not allowed to drink. :(!
